Okay it would not be a monthly check to black people it would be a once yearly tax break that people of African American descent get when they file their taxes. Much like native American get or people who own homes get or the billion dollar businesses get. Black people aren't getting a gift they are keeping more of the money they earned in an attempt to break the cycle of systematic and institutionalized poverty. How do you determine who and who isnt a decendant of a slave? what about black people who are decendants of slaves and non slaves, do you get a fraction of reparations? what about decendants of slave owners AND slaves? Does that cancel itself out? What about white people who have a slave ancestor, do they get a bit of reparations? what about black people that are 1000% not descended from slaves, do they miss out? And who is paying? Decendants of slave owners? The US government which to the best of my knowledge is the government that fought to end slavery. It sounds like a massive mess that for every $1 that makes it to the hands of a slave decendant $20 will be spent on testing peoples claims.
